As with the Hobbit, Tolkien has produced a masterpiece. Easy to read, clear and well planned, this book captures the imagination fantasticly. I am fanatical about the Lord of the Rings series, but even so, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story that really means something. The characters are so complex and so real, it is so easy to imagine. I have enjoyed the book so much that I have read it numerous times, played the games, watched the films, because it blows you away every time.

I thought that this book was a difficult read but also very good. I loved it from the moment I read the first page. I also thought that the movie was absolute amazing. I would recommend seeing it, if you haven't. But if you think the first book was boring I would recommend reading the second and third one i would have to say they are the best out of the three. i would have to give all 3 ***** 5 stars!!!!!

I found these books quite hard to read and would adivies that only older people read this book. But apart from that I loved it! really interising read.

Finally I finished the books, long time ago and I became very happy. A wonderful and little sad story because we suppose that some people had to go to another place, the place of transcendence letting the other in this world such as life is. Right now I am listening the music of the film, part one and is very peaceful. Also I saw the films finishing the books. Good films. Now I see hobbits every where I go. One of my favorites.

After having read into the background of all of Tolkiens works and every not and scrap of work done, I can fully appricieate the genius of this book. Yet I must say only 9/10 because it is the start of the end of the works. It is the start of ,chronolgically speaking, the end of the works. It is a fantastic book non the less, very good and more detail than most books out there, by far better than harry potter, and by far the best trilogy written ever.

The Fellowship of the Ring is a vivid book that gives the reader a sense of adventure from the beginning of the book. Characters, feelings, and scenery are all strung together to make the reader feel as if he or she was there. A definite buy for anyone who wants to experience an adventure with a profound meaning.

WOW! What an amzing book! JRR Tolkien is such a brilliant writer. you feel like you're a part of the story because Tolkien's descriptions of the charachters, places, and things are so vivid that it seems completely magical, just like the book. although it may be a bit hard to understand in some places it's really an excellent story, a definite must read!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just finished reading this book. It was BRILLIANT! In places it got a bit hard to understand but otherwise it was really good. It has a really strong feeling of friendship throughout the book. All the characters have their own unique personalty made to fit there discription.

This book is the best. I read it after I saw the movie and loved it right away. Of course I had to read The Hobbit first. If you haven't already read it now!!! J.R.R Toilken din't just create a book and lovable characters. He created a world with living breathing characters! This book comes to life (if you have the patience to read it). I admit it takes awhile to get started, but read carefully because you'll discover a lot.

What can anyone say about the Lord of the Rings trilogy except absolutely brilliant! The all time best book I have ever read (besides the other two!) J.R.R. Tolkien is an amazing author and I encourage everyone to read EVERY SINGLE ONE of his works because it will absolutely be worth it!

how tolkein ever managed to create such a completely different and complex world from that of our own, give it an entire history and several languages i'll probably never know. the three books of the trilogy are absolutley amazing. philip pullman is humble compared to tolkein (and that is a big thing for me, a massive pullman fan to say). and as for rowling? yes, they are good books but they are nothing, i repeat nothing compared to the works of tolkein. but what i want to know from tolkein (and pullman and dickinson and nix and mccaffrey and all the other authors im mad about) is where they get there ideas from. i mean what could enspire someone to write up a whole world, an entire universe? theres nothing wrong with it, gods no, because then we would have nothing good to read, but i just could not do thiat. i would loose intrest and patience way too fast. i think i have made my point, so thank you(if you even bothered to read all this, its ok, i undertand if you didnt)!!

The entire LOTR series is absoloutly GREAT!! In fact that doesn't do it justice. It is uncomparable to all othher books, Rowling has nothing compared to this. I mean, he doesn't just write a story, but there is an entire universe around this. He has created at least three fully speakable langauges, if you have read the sillmarilion (only for the most obsessed LOTR fans) then you will know the entire creation of middle earth and everything else. He has written around 3 times as much about the happenings in his world than in known about our own. The entire LOTR series will always remain the best book ever.

When I picked this book up I thought i was in for a treat. everyone told me how good it was but in reality, it was BORING! I read more captivating stories in my textbooks at school! It did have a very complex and very well thought plot line but other than that the only thing good about this book was the MOVIE!!!!!There wasn't one time that i read more than 5 pages without dozing off! In summary i didn't really enjoy this book snd wouldn't reccomend it to anyone unless they had difficulties sleeping!!!! By the way, did i mention BORING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this book has to be too good to be true! There is just not enough words to describe it- and to think one person could create something so amazing as that. LOTR definitely is the best creative/ fantasy/ adventure etc book I've ever read. I want to give credit to the author, he is so talented- to be able to create such a magical place as Middle Earth is somethimng! I love the whole ideas about the ring, elves, all the other races- it is really marvellous. I think it has to come in the best books of all yimes. EVERYBODY should read it- and love it!

Actually I am reading the book. I am in the moment when the Fellowship of the Ring is reunited and Gandalf told the story about his talking with Saruman, and they are saying that they have to destroy, not hide the ring, because it is an evil thing that must disappear. Its a great book and I am enjoying it a lot. I got the three books of The Lord of the Rings, bought them first the first and secondly the second and third and I am wanting to finish the first part to pass immediately to the second one that is The Two Towers. I am thinking about my finishing of the books because as it usually happens, when you like a book, you dont want it to finish because you are loving the story. Even though, I will finish it hope so.

I thought it was an amazing book and really intense. I couldn't put it down i was so in to it. It was a bit long though and that would be the only reason that might put me off reader the second two in the trilogy. But with a great storyline in the first i think i will almost definately read the second. Worth reading!
