I am English but I moved over to New Zealand 6 months ago. It was hard for me to leave all of my friends, I cried all the time, I felt like Gemma, I wanted to run away.I didn't really comunicate with anyone at school because I felt like I was betraying my friends.I eventually found the book and I really enjoyed reading the story, Jacqueline really described Gemma's feelings. At the end it made me realise that maybe things won't be so bad and I will make new friends, I have made lots of new friends all because of the book.

Jacqueline Wilson has written for the older kids with books like Dustbin Baby, the Diamond Girls, Girls in tears, Girls Out Late and Girls Under Pressure. She has also written great books for children like Lizzie Zipmouth and Buried Alived. But with all of her topics so far, this is her best yet!!!

It shows how 2 best friends really care for each other and that they will do anything to be together. The book also shows how important friendship is. I don't think Jacqueline wilson has anything to improve on this book, come to think of it she does not need to improve her story on any book she has written.

Jacqueline Wilson does hardly any mild, so called, books. All her novels have at least one major problem, like the mum and the dad split up, or one of them gets cancer, or something very much that. This is the only 'not really depressing' book by J.W. that I've ever read. I'm definitely not putting that up as a bad thing, oh no, its pretty much the opposite. Anyway, its a very real sittuation, and that, I think, is definitely very good for a story base. An absolutely excellent read.

I like the illustrations in the book especially the front cover. I liked the bit when Gemma threw the cake in Flora's face! I wish that I could do that when I get mad and get away with it! I didn't like Flora much. When Alice and Gemma ran away I was worried that they would get lost and starve. I have a friend called Lucy and this year she's been moved into a different class from me. I felt a bit like Gemma did in the story when Alice left - but we can still see each other at break times. It has a very happy ending like friend stories should have. It was fun when they wrote with the icing and Biscuit put "Gemma is rubbish at icing' and Gemma wrote 'Biscuit is a great mate'. It made me happy that Gemma and Alice could still be friends and the charm she sends at the end was really special - 'best friends for ever'. I have told my friends what a good book this is.

Well hello again, I am not writing a proper feedback of Best Friends but I'm just saying what I think of the characters: Gemma:I don't like her because she's so boisterous and I don't like girls who are like that. I got fed up with her crying and wimpering constantly from the first thing in the morning to the last thing at night. Alice:I don't like her either because she's a crybaby and she's a spoilt brat.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was very exciting and interesting , I loved every bit of it and esspecially the part where it built tention. I thought about the part when Alix thought of running away because every body should have thought Gemma comes up with these silly ideas. I enjoyed reading this book like all of the rest of Jacqueline Wilson's books.

I loved best friends. There was pleasure and pain. Gemma and Alices hearts were broken. Gemma regretted it when she messed everything up by throwing the cake in Floras face. But Gemma finds an inner friendship with biscuits, a boy. I gave it ten out of ten. It is the best of Jacqeline Wilsons books. It was great to read. You cant put the book down once youve opened it!!!!!

I do not like it because best friends was about a girl and so this book is more about girls behaviour than boys.
Manacat, girl, age 12, from Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, on 12th June 2005. Rating: 9/10
This book was absolutely fantastic. It made me feel like I was actually Gemma, and I wanted to throw the cake in Flora's face when Gemma did, or I almost jumped up and down when Gemma got the charm bracelet. I thought it was also cool how two totally different girls can be friends for such a long time. I know exactly how Gemma feels because my best friend moved to Canada from the Netherlands, even further than London to Scotland.
Hannah, girl, age 10, from Leeds, United Kingdom, on 9th June 2005. Rating:
I think best friends is a really good book it is touching but moving and it helps you cope when your best friend moves away . It is funny as well like when she chucked the cake in Flora's face on a scale of 1 to 10 i would give this book a 9 and 9/10ths because i did get quite sick of Gemma moaning and crying alot haha!

This book was a typical Jacqueline Wilson book (one about problems) nevertheless I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed The Illustrated Mum and The suitcase Kid. I guess it just had something missing and that something made it feel like the plot and the story-line wern't strong enough to hold it up.

Ithough this book had a lot of feeling to it, Jaqueline Wilson never writes a book without some sort of problem, i.e, 1 of the girls was, well lets say a bit boystress! This book had a massive affect on me, I was best friends with a girl (american girl) and when i was 7 she moved back to Texus, she came to visit once and now 5 years on we hav'nt been in contact.:(...WELL DONE JAQUELINE WILSON you have done it again!

The book is one of the best works of the writer. I have a best friend that I met on the internet, but she lives 200 kilometres away. It may seem nothing, but we just can't find the time to visit each other so we just talk on our mobiles ... I totally understand the stuff that the girls do ... My friend has a good school mate in her town too, and she reminds me of Flora A LOT. The book had a good effect on me, as I wasn't so very sad after I read it. There are still other ways to be together! SO I strongly reccomend the book, I think that everyone that read it, liked it, at least as I know.

I think this is one of the best books I have ever read! Another fantastic read from author Jacqueline Wilson. This book has everythin from moments of extreme humor to very touching moments, about Gemma and her bestist ever friend Alice. It encludes an everlasting frindship of two girls, wich becomes tougher to keep when one of them moves away! I liked the book most at the end because it got rather exiting when Flora, the new charecter, comes in and mainly disrupt even more the frindship of Alice and Gemma. It has the hole and entire best friend robbery on behalf of Floucy Flora and her evil schemes. Will Alice be stolen from posh and rich Flora or will she go back to old friendly Gemma? Will this really be an everlastign friendship? Or will it end with the Flora disruption? Find out! Mean Girls might be right up your street!!! Thalia

But when i read the next few chapters, i was delighted! so now i thought that they'd live happily ever after, and they did, kind of! IT WAS ABSOULUTLY GREAT!

I am a big Jacqueline Wilson fan and I've read them all. But for me, this book is far too predictable! A girl moves house and her best friend is heart broken. Not a very good story-line. This was suprising as most of her other books are great. It does contain a lot detail though.

I went into a bookshop recently and I saw nothing was there except books I already have or I've read. I finally saw one book with an intresting cover so I read the back and it looked really good. It was Best Friends and I thought it looked really good. I read the first few pages and thought they were really good and I wanted to get it, but it was too expensive at the time, so I looked at this web page and I thought that there are so many good reveiws that I think that it really good. I'm hoping I'll get it for a pressie since Christmas is coming, but I know that it will be good and it is good from reading the back of the book and reading the first few pages. I'd say it's good, so I'd probabley advise alot of people, to read it.

It shows that even the toughest and bravest people like Gemma can cry their eyes out if they are away from their friends. It shows other people that true friends are ver precious. Life goes on and so do you, but you can be friends with someone no matter where they are

I think this book was great. it had so much passion and sorrow in it but at the same time it was filled with exitement. Many people say 'i just couldn't put it down' after they have read a book, but trust me, when you start reading about the lives of Gemma and Alice you won't be able to put it down. It's absolutely amazing and i think it is meant for all ages. it gives a message of true friendship. you are friends with someone if you live next door or afew hundered miles away.

I think Jacqueline Wilson is a superb author and whatever she writes she really thinks about it, that's why her books: Double Act, Vicky Angel, The story of Tracy Beaker and Girls in love did go into the top 100 in the big read

i didn't read this jacqueline wilson because you can't get any of them here in argentina. i read many, because i've got a british friend and she has many of them. my favorite jacqueline wilsons are the lottie prject, double act and all the girls collection. i felt really identified with ellie from girls because we're the same age and (although here in argentina culture is quite different)we do almost the same things. we are very alike in many opinions about the teenage society and "what everybody else does". i'd like to know if there is a way via e-mail or anything through which to communicate personally with her. please!!

I gave it a 9 cos it's quite a good book, but not like THE BEST. I loved it so much! Gemma is a bit like me, I'm not that girlie and I've got short hair and I am best friends with someone with long blonde hair and who is quite girlish TOO! I think Jacqueline Wilson has the rare talent for writing. She's a very good writer and nearly all of her books are SO good! I have read Lola Rose, Best Friends, The Story of Tracy Beaker and Double Act. Each one is very, very interesting!!! Although I'm halfway through Double Act, I think it's good so far. BEST FRIENDS IS A RECCOMENDED READ!!!

I LOVED IT. THERE WAS PLEASURE AND PAIN, AND GEMMA AND ALICE'S HEARTS WERE BROKEN. AND GEMMA REGRETED IT WHEN SHE MESSED EVERYTHING UP BY THROWING THE CAKE IN FLORA'S FACE! BUT GEMMA FINDS AN INNER FRIENDSHIP WITH BISCUITS, A PLUMP BOY. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
