It's a pretty good book overall. J.K Rowling certaily is an extremely good writer. The book has a absolutely wonderful set-up and background information. J.K. Rowling has created a world of children's own in her book. It evolves absolutely the way kids want it. I recommend it to all the kids around the world. However the book isn't completely perfect. It heavily lacks on sophistication and good suspence and maybe a ever twisting storyline. For adults i recommend the book if the want to lighten their head(Start watching SOUTH PARK). But for people who want to read i'll just say the book is pretty average from sophisticated viewpoint. Go back to Dickens,Arthur conan doyle or maybe mario puzo for a good read.

i think parts of it were a bit boring and really didn't need to be there, but other parts were really interesting. i would start reading before bed and if mum or dad came in to turn off my light i would say, "hang on!i'm up to the best bit!" then they would come back 10 minutes later and i'd say the same thing until finally they took the book off me and made me go to bed!!it was the same for the rest of the books (2,3,4,5 and 6). in the sixth book though i cried at the end, it was so sad! i had to go back and read the first 5 again to get over it!!!

in the beginning I thought Harry Potter was a stupid book. But when I was at my friend's home he told me to read it. Well there started my addiction, I have read part 1, the philosopher stone, in 1 day, when I went home I ask him if I could bring part 2 with me. He agreed, so when I got home I started in part 2. I have read that book in 2 days. Well then there was a problem. My friend lives not any near me... So I was bound to wait till I got the money to buy part 3 and 4. When I finally got the money I bought part 3 and 4, and started reading in at the way home. In one week those books were finished aswell. So I started from part 1. And read them all again. From that time I was the proud owner of the 4 books. And then I started to wait for part 5, when It came out around christmas 2 years ago, I got it from my dear Santa. And before the year was ended part 5 was finished. Well now and then when I didn't knew what to read I started to read them all again. And last Summer I was in the city, and there it was! all five the books of harry potter in English (I have read them 1st in dutch). Well I didn't hesitate and bought those books right away! And I started to read the English version! That was even better. And now I hardly can't wait till part 6 and 7 will be brought out. And I also read quiditch through the ages, that is a real funny book about how quiditch came to live. and how all the wizards and whitches became addicted to it. Well I hope you liked reading about myself, and how I got addicted to Harry Potter. He is my true hero! Rob

I felt engaged as I because I couldn't put the book down as I was really into it and I just had to keep reading, it was as though the book was addictive. [Honestly.] Overall I really enjoyed the book to it's full, and i recommend it to people abouve the age of 7. THat is because the words are a bit advanced, as it is a book for older readers. Bibi xxx

I like this book because it is a very lovely story for the begining ! We keep on reading when we have started ans we start to love the persons. I loved Neville Longbottom but he is not so important in this book. I like Snape too because we realy don't know who he is. And Harry, Ron and Hermione are so small... it's funny, and cute ! I like their mind ! They only thing about they want to know ! But I'll never forget this book ! The first baby for Rowling.

Ahh ... where my love affair all began. (Sorry. I didn't mean to sound to crazy.) Anyways - this has to be one of my least favourite books of the series though I really still like it as it is where the fascination with Harry Potter began. However - the chapters where they try to get to the Philosopher's Stone. Ok - those obstacles were a little ... silly. I really enjoyed them at first, and I still kinda do - but, it's like they were set out for someone of Harry's age at the time to complete for a gameshow or something. Honestly - a few tests involving on your ability to ride a broomstick, your strategic game-plan at chess; and your logic level at riddles? It seems hard to imagine that Quirrell/Voldie went through all of that, and that the school's teachers put that up. They must have been having a laugh. You would naturally suspect a boggling maze of some sort with a few fatal beasts attacking you. (Ok, so there was that Devil's Snare and Fluffy ... ) Or maybe a most magnificent sphere of magic surrounding the stone that you had to break, and use pure logic and a bit more spellwork. What also sparked my bestie and I off was that how the Golden Trio didn't really *have* to go and rescue to the stone. Yes, it *was* in danger, but - it was, as Hermione pointed out in Book 5 to Harry, a "saving people thing". They were just 11! What pre-teen goes underground putting themselves at danger for something like that? It was a fantastic adventure, admittedly - but put into that situation I wouldn't bother. And if the whole world were doomed - nobody would expect you of all people to stop it, would they? Sorry about that awfully long rant. I still do love Miss Rowling, author extraordinaire, and found that her books with progression are getting more and more to my liking. Automic 10/10 rating because my bestie and I are a little too warped in the series.

I really like the Harry Potter series. It is fantastic how the Rowling pulls you into the story. I just can't put the books down. Lots of people in my class at school think Harry Potter is stupid, or stuff like that. That just means that they haven't give the books a chance. The first time I read it I loved it. Most kids at school make fun of me for liking the books, but I really don't care. I can't wait for the sixth book at all. I sure hopes she finishes soon. Whoever dosn't like Harry Potter is insane. (Well, mabye that is a little drastic, but I am just emphasizing how much I like it) HARRY POTTER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work in a small loacally owned video store and several of my customers say if they change anything about the movies (example.. the crew) they will stop watching the movies.

I think that the book is quite different from the film, because it is alot more interesting. I love part when Hagrid has to explain who gave Harry "that scar". "V...V...Vol.... ok then..........Voldermort." That is the best part in the whole world. The ending is very happy and ends the film very very well. J.K.Rowling is a great author, and I have the collection of her books, and I hope that she will write more books apart from Harry Potter books, that are as interesting. Hermione Granger is my favourite character, as I have alot of things in common with her. Last year, I was Hermiseter Granger, in our christmas play, "Barry Trotter and The Manger of Secrets". In the audittions, we had to practise the first scene, but Hermiseter only had one line, but i was so desperate to get the part, that i read that line, and that line only. So many peole tried to get the part, but i got it! YES!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Joanne

I did not like the book. I think it's just avarage or below avarage. Though ideas are really original, I can't appreciate it. The WORST thing is that, the book is being flattered and advertised to no extent. That is the reason of its popularity.
