this book is great! we started reading it in class and we all enjoyed it very much. it holds really much information from those times and how anna must have felt being a refugee. my favourite characters are the parents ,because it must have been reallly hard for them to keep calm in their situation. it is all based on judiths real life experience and i would recommend it for 8-12

I found the book was very interesting. It also tells us if the life in germany was and also if the life in germany was as a jew. It is also based on a true story of a person who still lives. My favourite character is Anna's father because he was a famous and intelligent auther. And also because he and his family escaped germany befor hittler came to power.

I think it´s a great book, because you see in what danger Anna and Max where because Hitler is after they´re father. I whould recommend it to 8-12 year olds. When I got to the end of the book I was very disapointed because it said very little about they´re life in England. Some parts ar a bit boring, but not many. My favourite charecter is Anna because she is the main character and you know how she feels when she was ill in the hotel (in Switzerland). It´s funny, like when the red haired boy in Switzerland ( in her swiss school) and his friends started throwing stones at her! IT´S A GREAT BOOK!
Tania, girl, age 11, from London, United Kingdom, on 12th February 2009. Rating: 8/10
I think this book is great for children from 8-12 years. Kerr describes Anna's situation very well and you nearly feel as though you were part of the story. My favourite character is Anna, because I like the way her feelings are so clearly described and how she so easily adjusts herself to her new life as a refugee, she even finds it exciting at first. I think she's a very brave girl. But the fact that this book is based on a true story is hard to believe. That such a rich and famous family could end up being poor refugees, who could not even afford a bar of chocolate every now and then. And all that just because they were jewish! I think this book is great and I really recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
Ben Barrett, boy, age 12, from Greater London, Surrey, United Kingdom, on 12th February 2009. Rating: 7/10
It is an interesting book, however simply written. It pulls you into the revolving world of history, which terror and chaos is part of aswell as giving you an experience of thoughts and worries of the German Jewish population. The nerves at the border:"Will I make it or not?" My favorite character is Max(Anna`s brother). In the book he`s put as a thoughtful boy,who is solemn. He is fixated on being a part of the class and joining in(As known from my own experience after moving 3 times). It is also interesting to understand the relationship between children and parents:"What do you tell them?"Anna is one of the most interesting characters though; from learning foreign languages to making new friends. What intrigues me is the tension there must have been between all members of thew family aswell as exploring new cultures: From snails to the poor Englsh weather.

We read this amazing book in class and EVERYBODY loved it!!I think this book is a very touching book! It is based on Judith Kerr´s real experience, about escaping out of Germany and from the Nazis, so she knows exactly what she is talking about!! I think she sees the good sides of life, while being a refugee. So if being a refugee would always be like that, having adventures all the time I´m sure I would like to try it even though it´s impossible!! I would recommend this book to not to young readers, but if the reader is more than about 8 years old, I think this book would fit to every older age!!

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. We were reading this book in english class because Judith Kerr was supposed to come to our school to tell us about her adventure but sadly she couldnt come. But we are stil reading it. This book is just so speacial. Why because it tells people how families like Annas had to escape from Hitler and live in poverty.I would recomend this book to everybody who is interested in these kind of subjects. My favorite character is Anna because she copes very well with living in three different countries and learns how to speak French in just two years.

I quite liked this book, because it has got an interesting background(before WW2). I thought, because of the background it should have had a bit more action. I like, that it is based on a true story. It makes you know how the Jewish refugees felt and what they had to go through. My favourite character is Onkel Julius, because he is still optimistic even under the nazis. I think it should have told us a bit more about the historical background. That would have made it a little more interesting. In general it was a pretty good book.

I loved this book to pieces. Whenever we do a book review in class I just HAVE to do this book. I could imagine everything so clearly when i first read it. The second time I read it, it felt like a reunion with a great friend. I would recommend it to about ages 8 - 11 mainly because it's more for the older ages but too young for the rather old teenagers. This book made me fell this way because...well I don't know but I loved it anyway.

I enjoyed this book. It made me want to read on and on. I liked the way it was a mixture of different feelings. Sometimes it felt exiting when Anna and her family where moving country all the time and it felt scary sometimes when they were escaping from Germany into Switzerland. Sometimes it was funny when Anna got mixed up with the languages and it also made me really sad when I had finnished it. Overall I thought it was a great book.

I thought this was a great book!!! I read it first when i was 8 years old and have read it many times since then and ive read "bombs on aunt dainty" and " a small person far away". I did a book report on it in gr. 4 and our teacher liked my presentation so much and thought the book sounded so good she read it out loud to the class! About half the class went out and bought the book because the teacher didnt finish it because i was the end of the year! I would recomend this to anyone of any age and any interests. Its a great book to learn about life during the war and just generally what it was life to be a jew during hitler time.

I loved this book. I thought it was very well written and couldn't wait to read the next book " The other way round" although I didn't find the other way round as good as when hitler stole pink rabbit. It was very different. I reccomend this book to people aged nine or older as it does have a few disturbing things in it.

My dad and mum are busy reading it, sometimes they both want to read it the same time! They both enjoy reading it. This story gives you a deeper insight of the life people experienced there, it must had been horrible living like that during that time. I can really feel with the character and you feel really sorry for the whole situation. Even the made-up bits are for real. I would encourage any reader of any age to get hold of this book! I relly love this book. It doesnt just tell you what happened during the war. It tells you about people, and how they act. It reminds me of something we did in english. We all were given an old, black and white photo. We had to invent personalies for the person in the photo. When we were finished, the teacher stuck up a big photo of all of the people in our photographs. She told us that every last one os them had died in the concentration camps. They had all went to a jewish school and were our age. This book gives all of the jews an identity. Did I say that my english teacher is jewish?

I loved this book it gave a real insite into other peoples lives. Also it was interesting to see it from a germans view on the war, as at school we only see and learn about it from the english side. It was very easy to get into this book and would recomened it to any one. The book is about a girl called Anna. Her father is escaping from germany away from the nazis. You follow anna and her family to europe were they meet friends some good some bad , and see how Anna copes with life on the run.

This is a book review that I wrote for School witch I got top marks in: Star Choice Book Review My favourite book this term has been When Hitler stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr. It is about a Jewish girl called Anna who lives in Berlin with her Mother, Father, Brother and Nanny, to whom she is very much attached to. Her Father is a famous writer for the Berlin newspaper, unfortunately he has the flu. Hitler and his men are roaming about the streets of Berlin scaring anyone walking by, he would scare me too! Annas Father writes articles on how Hitler doesnt belong to his country. But when Hitler takes over his country he is scared and moves to Switzwnd, of course telling his wife who told her children the next morning. Annas Mother decided that they will have to join their Father in Switzerland, after discussing that with her husband. My favourite character was Anna because she and I and a link, as we are both Jews and, like most people, hate Hitler. Annas Mother is also my favourite character because she is very optimistic. My favourite moment was probably when Anna asked the lady in the train what was in the basket on her lap and the thing in the basket answered instead of the lady, and Anna and her brother laughed and laughed. It was my favourite moment because I felt happy because the were happy. There is no ending to this book as it is like a diary, it goes on and on. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books about refugees.

I think this book is very exciting and funny and adventurous. I am happy for Judith Kerr . I am glad that she didnt have to suffer at Nazi concentration camps. She must have been very lucky. I am happy that they were not caught by Nazis. I love the way she writes the book . I have only one thing to say , she must have been VERY LUCKY to have great parents and a happy life.

I am Anna's best friend. It is my favourite book as well. Judith Kerr tells this breath taking book mainly based on her own experiences. It was the best book ever and i would strongly recommend that you read it!! Also, Judith Kerr has written 2 follow on's from When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbitt. Bombs on Aunt Dainty and Small Person Far away. All three are in the trilidgy Out Of the Hitler Time. All equally astounding!!!

I think this book is very intrested for people, which doesn't go through this time of the third reich.....
At the beginnig the author shows the situation in Germany before the nazis come in power!!
And in Switzerland, i think, Judith kerr shows the reader that all jewish people are accept by the people of switzerland, but that the "german" peopel didn't accept them.........
I like this book
And i would recommend it to other people too
